Independent consultancy.
This side of the business is focused purely on independent advice. I don’t take on the jobs myself (unless specifically requested). The aim is to give clients clear answers and confidence before they commit to any works with their contractors.
Here are some ways I can support you and your clients:
Identify the true cause of leaks and advise on solutions.
Example: When several contractors suggest different fixes, I can assess the situation and outline the most appropriate remedy.
Review quotes and help compare approaches.
Example: If two or three estimates look very different, I can explain why, highlight any key differences, and recommend the most reliable option.
Translate technical details into plain English.
Example: If a contractor proposes specialist materials or methods, I can clarify what they mean and whether they’re suitable for the property.
Provide written inspection reports
Example: A clear, independent report can support a property sale, justify a negotiation, or simply reassure a landlord before committing to works.
Advise on long-term maintenance planning.
Example: Helping landlords and managing agents budget for roof upkeep and reduce unexpected issues in the future.
Alongside this, I can also speak directly with contractors during the quoting stage to make sure the works are being proposed in the correct way. Bringing in an independent consultant early not only gives clarity, it naturally encourages contractors to deliver to a higher standard, knowing the project is being monitored professionally.
This type of consultancy is often more cost-effective than instructing a surveyor, while offering greater independence than a roofer’s free quote and it draws on my 30 years’ experience as a hands-on roofing contractor.
